Abre Ojos, the ambient/noise musical project from the australian audiovisual artist
Scott Baker, just presented his latest work
Häxan, a six audio-visual tracks using the 1922
Häxan – Witchcraft Through the Ages
Swedish/Danish silent horror film written and directed by Benjamin
Christensen as a starting point to examine the persecution of women and
the suppression of the Divine Feminine.
The footage has been cut up,
reversed, inverted, time shifted and looped, which doesn’t undo the
damages but releases the energy back to the Source, a transmutation of
intention, beauty from the ugliness of mankind, restoring the balance in
some small way. The titles come from the english translation subtitles from key points in the movie.
The audio is improvised on a eurorack modular synthesiser processed
through Native Instruments Guitar Rig and Maschine. The videos were
edited in After Effects and extra animations were created with Quartz
Composer. The audio and visuals were performed and recorded live in the
studio.
This is the video of the ending track of the album
