Skoulaman - Without boundaries

Great electronic live jam by Skoulaman:

Description:

I found this beauty setting of the Waldorf Q. Its a nice sample of a full resonant opened filter'(notch). It is controlled by the Moog Little Phatty (by the arpeggiator and the modulation wheel) and the funny thing is that although the Moog isn't velocity sensitive the keys are and it works perfect for other velocity sensitive MIDI instruments. Its sends also polyfonic. I tweaked some Juno 106 noise together with the Moog sequence.

The solo pieces are from the Concertmate MG-1 and the DS8. The pads came from my favorit DS-8 and a low string sound from the Korg 05r/w. In opposite is the string and e-piano sound from the Lamda. All processed with Lexicon, Yamaha, Ibanez, Alesis and Electrix effects. It is best listened with good audio gear then you here the rich harmonics of the Waldorf, I filmed and recorded everything live without overdubs (I mostly don't use that).

Also, please notice that AKS (Attorks, Keesvangelis and Skoulaman) will go live on stage for the first time.at 27-10-2012. See the teaser preview of this exciting performance:

Borderlands: granular synthesis for iPad

Chris Carlson has recently released Borderlands Granular, a gruanular synthesizer for iPad aimed to provide extreme interaction and fun.

"Explore, touch, and transform sound with this new interface for granular synthesis, a technique that involves the superposition of small fragments of sound, or grains, to create complex, evolving timbres and textures.

Borderlands Granular emphasizes gestural interaction over knobs and sliders. Create, drag, and throw pulsing collections of grains over a landscape of audio files, or use the built-in accelerometer to sculpt sound with gravity. Record and share performances on the web."

Borderlands Granular is now available on the AppStore for 2,99€/3,99$. More information including demo videos and examples is available at www.borderlands-granular.com. Follow Borderlands Granular on Twitter at twitter.com/BorderlandsiPad

Ran Kirlian - Formations and Mystical Veils

Ran Kirlian released his latest album Formations, a masterwork that combines space and tribal ambient based on live improvisations.

This album defines a journey to the core of Ran Kirlian's tribal-ambient landscapes prevously visited on albums like Sleeper, Melting Point and Limbo. With a continuous flow of expansive and complex soundscapes accompanied by subtle melodies and tribal grooves, this album conforms an excellent immersive process in to the electro-acoustic tribal flavours of Ran Kirlian musical career.

Most of the music of  Formations is based on live improvisations subjected to a large evolutionary process, including the high privilege of counting with the ambient master Max Corbacho on the final mastering process.

The track of the next video, Aerthanna, is one of the pieces included in Formations, the new album of Ran Kirlian. The video version, published in september 2009, is a live improvissation and is mostly the same version included in the album, capturing the fresh and primordial essence of a raw creative process.

Formations is now available at Altera Orbe in CDr (limited edition), FLAC and MP3 formats. Also, as a special offer until November 5, the purchase of Formations comes with the mini-album Mystical Veils (Woomh Series 1), the first volume in the Woomh Series. It is an EP that collects 3 electronic pieces recorded live in 2009 in a different style Ran Kirlian music uses to be, with pulsating sequences and textures, a bit away from classical ambient genres.

The Woomh Series is a special product line which items are presented in mini-albums formats, containing unique, strange and isolated musical passages from the artists belonging to Altera Orbe or even special guests.

Parallel Worlds & Dave Bessell - Morphogenic (DiN41)

Morphogenic (DiN41) by Parallel Worlds & Dave Bessell is now available for purchase on CD via the DiN web store. Also, available for purchase as a digital download via the DiN Bandcamp store.

Morphogenic sees a new collaborative project on the DiN label, although the name of Parallel Worlds should be familiar to DiN aficionados due to the two solo albums Obsessive Surrealism (DiN26) & Shade (DiN32) as well as the more recent collaboration with DiN label boss Ian Boddy on Exit Strategy (DiN37). Dave Bessell is, of course, a new artist to join the DiN roster, although his name should be familiar to lovers of analogue electronica due to his contribution to the almost legendary band Node. One of the four founder members of this group, Dave is also joined on the track Heterodyne by Ed Buller the world renowned producer and master of the art of sequencing large vintage modular synths.

Video for track 'Corruption', from the CD album Morphogenic (DiN41) by Parallel Worlds and Dave Bessell. (out on DiN on 30th of October) :

"For the gearheads: most drums are synthetic, made on the A100/Eurorack modular with analogue sequencers and vco's of course. in detail, Plan B model 15's passed thru Make Noise QMMG lowpass gates.... plus various analogue scapes (Serge, various analogue synths, etc) of course... the orchestral strings ( heavily processed though) come from an old Roland S750 Sampler. even a little bit of NI Reaktor is in the track. plus heavy processing with Ableton Live."

Rheyne - 10/1/12 - Live Jam #55

A live looping improv jam using the "MF3D Launcher" created by Tomash Ghzegovsky for the DJ TechTools MIDI Fighter 3D, basically turning the MF3D into an Ableton Live control surface with instantaneous response. Details are at DJTT's website: http://maps.djtechtools.com/mappings/664

SoundPrism Pro is wirelessly sending MIDI to an instance of NI's Massive. Animoog is sending and receiving MIDI through an iConnectMIDI. Lemur is wirelessly controlling filters and effects in Ableton Live. Also used is a DSI MoPho keyboard, and an Akai MPD26 controlling NI's Kontakt. All audio is passed through a PreSonus 1818VSL connected to a Macbook Pro running Ableton Live.

Special thanks to Tomash for creating a unique version of this template which turns the clip launch page into a 4x4 grid. I've re-colored the last bank of buttons to four vertical rows to match my own mapping for Ableton's loopers.

The lighting is 3x Chauvet Slim Par 56 LED's and an American DJ H2O LED.

Vauxia Errante - Cambrian Spirits

Altera Orbe presents new artist :
Vauxia Errante
"We're happy to present a new signing artist in our label, Vauxia Errante, which will release a truly awesome album named Cambrian Spirits: a dark and deep subterranean-ambient full of evolving drones, complex textures and ritualistic flavours.

Mostly based on drone and dark-ambient genres, his creative process combines electronic music, voices and field recordings in a deconstructive research and development. Darkness, cavernous and underground are words that usually comes to mind after listening to Vauxia Errante textures and sonic experiments.
Strongly influenced by the music of Oöphoi, Mathias Grassow, Thommas Köner, Vidna Obmana, Steve Roach, Jeff Greinke, Alio Die, Viridian Sun, Lustmord, Zeit, Yen Pox, Nimh, Nik Parkin, Aglaia, Kenneth Newby and a lot more.

His first music project, Cambrian Spirits, was developed with the support of his long time friend Ran Kirlian who features in some of the tracks of this album playing synths, flutes and tribal grooves."

Cambrian Spirits is the first album by Vauxia Errante, a dark and deep subterranean-ambient work featuring Ran Kirlian on synths, flutes and tribal grooves as well as on production. Cambrian Spirits will be soon available in FLAC and MP3 digital download formats.

Arjen Schat | Ambient Recording Process

A great demostration of the recording process of an excellent ambient soundscape:

Description:
A demonstration of my ambient recording process at Infraklang. I use a complex routing on my Allen & Heath ZED 436 to feed the signal from the Moog Little Phatties and DSI Prophet '08 to the effects and back to a bus to feed the combined signal to my audio interface to process it realtime through Logic Pro's phaser and silververb.

The synthesizers are sequenced with Renoise + ESI M8UXL and are routed through an array of effects: Moog MF-103 and MF-104Z, Maxon AD999, T-Rex Room-mate and a Vermona PH-16.
